Newm’s Platform Makes Entering the Web3 Music Scene Easier Than Ever

So much of Web3 feels like it was made to allow musicians to create their own processes for handling their intellectual property. Although many artists in these spaces find themselves stuck in educating their audiences. For musicians, NEWM meets them where they are. Without changing how fans listen to music, NEWM has made it easier than ever to allow artists transparent payment for their music and streams through blockchain technology.

However, we had to see for ourselves what the process was like. I decided to upload a song to see how the experience went and I was most excited to see what incorporating splits with collaborators would be like.

What sets NEWM apart from most other platforms is its ease. The user interface for royalty splits not only allows for seamless collaboration between native Web3 and non-native users in payment infrastructures, but also helps new users onboard themselves at their pace, while showcasing earnings transparently. From uploading the music & metadata, to assigning splits, and handling gas fees, the process felt smooth and seamless in a world where most things involving crypto feel convoluted.

As a musician myself, I’ve worked with multiple services to upload music to distributed streaming platforms and I was pleasantly surprised by how inviting NEWM makes itself to be for the uninitiated. The user interface kept everything seamless on one page. From ease of transaction process to minimal gas fees, not only did I find uploading a song through NEWM one of the smoother crypto-centric transactions I’ve experienced but uploading the song to other platforms via NEWM felt just as seamless if not more so than the standard process of uploading music to DSPs altogether.

In short, the back end tools NEWM has to offer focus on ease of use, transparency in process and earnings, and open communication. More than anything, NEWM understands that the artists who use its tools will be the best advertising, and looks to empower its users by listening to artists’ needs in a platform. The onus is still on the artist to get their music heard and found, but the infrastructure set in place here can be revolutionary for artists when leveraged properly. As more blockchain services look to integrate themselves into society, one can only hope that they do so via principles that projects like NEWM have laid the groundwork for — try it for yourself.
